The tale we are familiar with from our screens acts as a backdrop to the one we are told within the game itself, with well known characters appearing every now and again. Without giving any spoilers away your character takes you very quickly away from the main story and onto a parallel one. For those who do know the story I can say that “Ice From Fire” starts at the Red Wedding. This sense of unease is something the game carries off perfectly. Sometimes main characters would meet an untimely demise too. The tension would build into a crescendo and would usually end with one or a lot of people being killed. The books and TV series could feel a little slow at times, and yet somehow underneath it all there is a sense of discomfort… like a brewing storm. So how did they fair? I actually felt that the game captured the spirit of Game of Thrones perfectly. What Telltale needed to deliver was a different, as yet untold, chronicle that was both a part of Martin’s world and yet was new something that was both familiar and yet original a bit like something Schrodinger might write, and not. But with a story so wonderfully presented to us already, how and where can Telltale’s episodic video game fit in? “Iron From Ice” was always going to be a side story, given that the main story is already a well trodden path. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire”, gives a fantastic look into the world set out in his tomes. And the TV series, which (quite understandably) does not strictly adhere to George R. The books weave a fascinating story of loyalty, betrayal, honour, murder and so much more. The TV series and the books, they’re both great. The books weave a fascinating I might as well say it now: I am a fan of Game of Thrones. I might as well say it now: I am a fan of Game of Thrones. The art style is great but telltales point and click gameplay is as mediocre as any other of their games but this doesn't detract from the amazing story and experience, in my opinion this episode is perfect and I can't wait for the second. You play as three characters, Gared Tuttle, Ethan Forrester and Mira Forrester (I believe that's Mira's second name), they are all three great characters, I thoroughly enjoyed the scenes where I played as Gared, he is by far my favourite of the three, then Ethan then Mira, throughout all Telltale games I have never encountered scenes as tense and never had choices as hard as the ones in Game of Thrones Episode 1: Iron From Ice. I have heard great things about the Game of Thrones television series and I am yet to have watched any of it, I was not at all interested in watching it but after playing this amazing game I will be watching through the entire series up to date. Having played through Telltales The Walking Dead seasons 1 and 2 and the Wolf Among Us I had high expectations for the Game of Thrones Having played through Telltales The Walking Dead seasons 1 and 2 and the Wolf Among Us I had high expectations for the Game of Thrones adaptation, I was not disappointed.
